Josh Vogel Art

Organize your Jiujitsu!

Thank you for taking the time to look at my site! My name is Josh Vogel and I am a Black belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu under Phil and Ricardo Migliarese. I am a full time instructor in this beautiful art and draw from an ever expanding repertoire of movement arts in order to constantly upgrade my understanding of how to practice and teach Bjj. I believe that to understand something deeply, you have to think outside of the box….

I have a good amount of competition experience at all belt levels (except white belt, I didn't start competing until blue) and have been teaching people from all backgrounds and lifestyles for over 8 years now.

TSR Legends of Jiujitsu Skateboard deck

$50.00

I originally made these because I wanted to find a way to combine my two favorite past times, Bjj and Skateboarding. I’m not particularly impressed with myself, so rather than putting some dorky picture of me on there I thought it might be cool to do a drawing of my favorite grapplers of all time and put it on the decks. It didn't take me long to pick the greats, Marcelo Garcia, Roger Gracie and Demian Maia to put on there. I figured they represent the major sportive aspects of Bjj very very well and are always great sources of inspiration for me when I’m looking at athletes to study.

Anyway, I contacted Pennswood manufacturing to make these decks because they really do beautiful work and I ride decks that they have made anyway. They did an amazing job with the beautiful black stained wood veneers and the graphics turned out great. I got fifty made and I saved half for myself to ride and half to share with you all. They look great as wall hangers, or if you skate and want to ride them, the shaping and size are consistent with what most folks are riding these days.

I got two different concave options. Pennswood MFG calls one the “matador” concave and it is a light/medium concave with a curved tail and nose (like a spoon) and light/medium steepness. The other concave is their “standard” concave which is closer to a medium concave with a steeper nose/tail than the matador.
